Job Description: Position Summary
Assist the Leisure Connections Facilitator by enhancing participants experience within recreation programs through inclusive programming and integration support;

Provide assistance and supervision to adults and youth with various disabilities within municipal recreation programs (this could also include providing support to those attending municipal summer camp programs);

Monitor and assist participants as required by providing applicable strategies and accommodations appropriate to the program environment;

Assist program staff with managing client disciplinary issues and maintain ongoing communication with participant’s guardians as required;

Enhance participant’s experience though inclusive programiming and integration into mainstream programs;

Educate and promote an inclusive environment and demonstrate positive and inclusive customer service skills;

Evaluate participant\'s integration experience in various programs;

Other duties as assigned;
Minimum Requirements / Work Experience:
Qualifications, Competencies
Must be enrolled in and returning to full-time secondary or post secondary studies in fall of 2013;

Preference will be given to students enrolled in the following post secondary programs: Therapeutic Recreation, Behavioural Psychology, Behavioural Science and Technology, Child and Youth Worker or Social Service worker;

Practical experience working with persons with developmental and physical challenges;

Experience and knowledge in program planning;

Current First Aid Certificate / CPR Certificate required and maintained at candidates own expense;

High 5 – Principals of Healthy Child Development Certificate considered an asset;

Must demonstrate corporate competencies: Customer Focus, Results Orientation, Integrity, and Teamwork.

Skills, Abilities, Work Demands
A satisfactory Criminal Record Check (CPIC) will be required by the successful candidate at their own expense;

Ability to lead / instruct activities and knowledge of age appropriate activities;

Must be able to problem solve and work in a fast paced environment;

Demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills;

Flexibility, punctuality, integrity and sensitivity required.
