Job Description: Opening Statement History and innovation thrive in Kingston, located at the head of the St. Lawrence River and the junction of the Rideau Canal (a UNESCO World Heritage site). Kingston is a dynamic city with a sound and diversified economic base - consisting of prestigious public institutions, government bodies, leading healthcare and education facilities, significant tourism and entertainment activity, and a large private sector. Kingston offers quality of life of a smaller community with the amenities of a major centre. Position Summary On-ice supervision of public skating and on-ice coordination and supervision of youth shinny hockey; Ensure the safety and enjoyment of participants through communication and enforcement of program and facility rules, addressing unsafe and unacceptable behavior, addressing first aid requirements and completion of a standard Injury Report Form; Maintain the cleanliness of program area; Communicate with the public and participants in a professional and courteous manner; Manage conflict on-ice and in program area appropriately and professionally, be highly visible and able to provide support to clients; Monitor admissions and program capacity; Maintain open and regular communication with Ticket Seller/Cashier; Must understand and be able to educate, inform and enforce all Public Skating rules and Shinny Hockey rules.
Minimum Requirements / Work Experience:
Qualifications, Competencies

Must be enrolled in and returning to High School, College or University course of studies in fall of 2013;

Candidates must be a proficient ice skater and must demonstrate knowledge and experience playing and refereeing hockey;

Successful candidate must obtain and maintain a satisfactory CPIC (Criminal Reference Check) at own expense and a current First Aid Certificate;

Demonstrated strong customer service experience;

Must demonstrate corporate competencies of Customer Focus, Results Orientation, Integrity and Teamwork.

Skills, Abilities, Work Demands

Flexible and reliable with respect to hours of work;

Ability to follow direction and work with minimal supervision;

Proven customer service skills; Able to deal with the public in a polite and courteous manner;

Strong oral communication and problem solving skills;

Required to provide skates and hockey helmet to be worn at all times when on the ice;

Ability to take control of difficult situations and manage conflicts in a calm professional manner.
